Catch up with Friends at The GRID Sunday Brunch!
We, the fully functioning, working adults of the world, are so caught up in the world of duties and responsibilities that we have no time. Forget about standing and staring, we don’t have a moment to spare even for ourselves; I speak from experience. Every once in a while, perhaps while stuck in the traffic, or when the known face of a long-lost friend appears in my Facebook feed, I think of the missed trip, or the cancelled dinner plan with them. Meanwhile, they miss me, too, and feel guilty, too. Sundays are all I have, but the truth is, we all feel too tired or lazy to devote an entire Sunday to others, selfish as it might sound. So, why not a brunch with friends? The GRID Sunday Brunch is a great way to start your Sunday – by catching up with friends, without a worry in the world!
Catch up with Friends at The GRID Sunday Brunch!
The Grid in Kolkata has come up with the incredible concept of a Sunday Brunch. The joy and energy inside The GRID during the Sunday Brunch is palpable. Good food, great drinks, crazy decor, groovy music, and happy people in their Sunday mood – it’s much like a carnival inside.
Location and Decor
The Grid stands at Topsia More inside the Ojas Building; the entrance is on the main road, and you have to walk a little way into the compound to find the huge gate with an industrial look. The inside of the restauranthas different sections on two different levels, spread across an area of 10,000 sq. ft. These include the smoking zone, the community dining area with high chairs set around the tables, and even the exciting Lego Bar! The décor and layout of the restaurant. is the work of Ayaz Basrai. It is the reason this place is so named. There’s something prominently eclectic about the interiors, and that should cater to diverse diners.
But, it’s not just the décor. It is the vibe of The Grid. On a Sunday morning, people are here with friends and family, their spirits running high, and the energy level inside going through the roof. There’s amazing music to get them into groove, with cocktails and Jell-O shots to give them the extra kick. But no worries, the place it’s kid-friendly, too! The idea was to give the Kolkatans a place where they can hang out with family, enjoying a hearty meal. I was there with other bloggers and members of the management team. Amidst the exuberance, we got comfortable pretty fast and became friends. And, I’m sure that this place is absolutely right to catch up with friends over brunch. Be it meeting just your pals, or getting together with each other’s families, The Grid Sunday Brunch is just the perfect excuse!
The Grid Sunday Brunch Buffet
The Sunday Brunch at The Grid offers an incredible buffet. The starters and mains include Indian, Continental and Asian items. From Paneer Do Piyaza and Murg Tikka to Burnt Garlic Udon Noodles and Fish Mandarin, from pizzas and sausage chilli fry to pizzas and chicken stew, everything is there.
Plus, there’s the live chaat counter, along with Dal Nawabi, Kashmiri Pulav and other dishes being prepped in on-site griddles.
But, it was the dessert section I truly fell in love with. Pancakes with chocolate sauce, baked mishti doi, rasmalai, Oreos and marshmallows – I felt like a kid in a candy store! The best thing is, kids their own options of food and desserts.
I had the opportunity to experience the food artistes at work with The Grid’s Corporate chef Chiranjib Chatterjee. Cooking, preparing masala in batches, decorating desserts, putting up dockets – it was like watching ‘Masterchef’ live!
I even got to watch this beauty being prepped inside before it went out of the kitchen:
By the time I had stepped out of the kitchen, there were cocktails and wine ready for us. Plus, there was beer from the in-house brewery of The Grid. It was slightly on the sweeter side, with an undertone of lavender. And, how can I forget the inviting colours of the Jello-O shots and alcohol-infused fruit bites? They are just what a person like me needs – delicious alcohol!
If you’re at The Grid for good food and drinks, then you won’t be disappointed. The Sunday Brunch buffet will fill you up, and tease your taste buds. Plus, it’s really light on the pocket, as the Sunday Brunch starts at Rs. 800 (excl. taxes) only!

And, you’ll still have the evening left for that long drive or tuck yourself in early, after an amazing few hours with your close ones.
