The Star-Studded Launch of Sephora Kolkata:

From the pre-opening to the grand store launch, Sephora created some noise in the City of Joy, in the presence of actress Bipasha Basu, designer Pranay Baidya, and Sephora India CEO Vivek Bali. Other noteworthy names of the city at the pre-launch and launch included actors Ritabhari, Riddhima and Gaurav, singer Lagnajita, socialite Sybilla, social activist Urmi Basu, beauty specialist Bridgette Jones, choreography director Sudarshan Chakravorty, celebrity makeup artist duo Kaushik Rajat, etc.

Mr. Bali was nice enough to take me on a tour of the enormous store. He described the different sections of cosmetics, beauty and personal grooming products, perfumes, makeover, etc. He also expressed the excitement of the Sephora India team about opening the first Sephora outlet in Kolkata; it is, after all, is the city of the most beautiful women and of beauty enthusiasts. And, having opened in one of the most happening shopping destinations in the city, i.e. South City Mall, this place aims to offer the ultimate experience to the citizens.

Actress Bipasha Basu looked stunning in her favourite Sephora Cream Lip Stain; she mentioned how Kolkata is an amazing place for a brand like Sephora, what with the artful people who know how to perfectly synergise beauty and art. She seemed particularly excited about the opening of her favourite shopping destination in her city. Designer Pranay Baidya, looking suave and hip, mentioned that e is not a cosmetics person himself, but is in love with the perfume section of the store.

And the most happening beauty event in Kolkata:

The socialites and makeup enthusiasts of the city like me went around the store; they enjoyed the experiential party with cocktails, hors d’oeuvres, and music, and lusting after the ranges of high-end products. And, don’t forget the makeovers! I got mine done at Bobbi Brown; the superbly talented Mansi took away my entire day’s tiredness and stress using her magic with makeup. And her lovely compliments!

My recommendation:

While the entire store is a candy store for makeup lovers, I particularly loved the colour-coordinated personal grooming products section, where products from soaps to tissues, body lotions to lip balms are arranged according to flavours and aromas, which allows you to create “Layering” of your own body aroma! Another section I totally loved is the Sephora brand of cosmetics, where the cosmetics are arranged in the order of application, from face to nails.

And, here’s a bit of something from my visit to the opening of Sephora:

  1. Estee Lauder Pure Color Envy Lip Gloss (Shade 06)
  2. Make Up For Ever Sculpting Kit – Palette 2
  3. Davidoff Cool Water Sea Rose To-Go Perfume Bottle

I can’t thank Supreeta Singh PR Consultancy and the Sephora team enough for everything!

The first rush of the store is starting to subside. It’s time for all makeup lover in Kolkata to visit Sephora Kolkata, to indulge!
