Sangria and Spritzer Festival at Afraa in City Centre

My new-found love is wine. I’ve discovered that it’s healthy in many ways. It is the one drink that even those who follow a low carb diet can drink. Plus, since I have a Reeeally low threshold for alcohol, wine works for me perfectly. And, to top it all, it’s so delicious! That’s why, when I received an invitation to attend the Sangria and Spritzer Festival at Afraa Lounge and Restaurant, I had to be there.

Now, I’m new to the heaven of alcohol. I also know what a hell it can turn into when over-explored in a single setting. So, I’m always a little apprehensive about trying alcoholic drinks, which is why I had never tried a Sangria or Spritzer before. Traditionally, a Sangria is a red wine drink, infused with fruits, and sometimes other ingredients like brandy and orange juice. A Spritzer is a drink made of white wine and sparkling mineral water or carbonated water, and has different variations.

Alcohol made from fruit, with more fruits in it, and fizz – an alcohol-newb is bound to get lured! So, I tagged along with my blogger friends from Panch Phoron, and went to the Sangria and Spritzer Festival at Afraa in City Centre, Salt Lake, which started on the 15th of November. And, I’m so glad I did! Pitchers of mouth-watering drinks, delicious finger food, and perfect ambience with mood lighting, against glass walls that lead the view to their pretty balcony and the evening sky changing colours – what’s not to love?

My Verdict:

My first experience of trying Sangria and Spritzer has been amazing, and I’m totally in love. The mixed fruit Sangria with pear and apples in it, and the Green Apple and Lemon Spritzer became my favourites. They say that inexperienced wine drinkers prefer white wine, but I loved the complex flavours of the one used in the Sangria. Wine, in itself, is quite an interesting elixir for me. They give off the most alluring mix of aromas of fruits, spices, herbs, wood, and so much more! They all feel different on the tongue. And, to bite into crunchy, juicy pieces of fruits with every gulp, or enjoy effervescence in a drink that can get you slightly tipsy is definitely the best first-time experience one can have! I must say, the Sangria and Spritzer Festival at Afraa Lounge and Restaurant is a must-visit for anyone who loves wine.
